Boot's Market

              Boots came into our lives in April 2018 as a stray, brought in with one job: mice exterminator.
              He took the role seriously for about five minutes before deciding the couch was better.
              Through the years he lived well and happy, the way a good cat should.
              
              In late 2025, he was diagnosed with diabetes. He nearly didn't make it — admitted to an
              emergency hospital, there was a moment where we weren't sure he'd come home.
              He fought through it. He always did.
              
              He lived long enough to meet our new baby boy. Earned the title Mr. Meow.
              Saw the next chapter begin.
              
              On June 7th, 2026, Boots passed away.
              
              This app was built during his fight, funded by people getting fair prices on Pokémon cards.
              It carries his name now as something permanent — a small corner of the internet that belongs to him.

              Boots chose to fight. So did we.

          Most Pokemon TCG tools are built for flippers and investors who already know
          the market. They assume you know what NM means, why reprints matter, or how
          to read a price chart.
          
          Boot's Market is built for everyone else. The parent buying a birthday card.
          The kid checking if a trade is fair. The casual collector who just wants to
          enjoy the hobby without getting ripped off.
          
            Boots has no stake in whether you buy or sell.
            It just tells you the truth about what a card is worth.

// HOW PRICES WORK

          Prices come from two sources.
          TCGPlayer market price
          shows what dealers are charging.
          eBay sold listings
          shows what people actually paid — real transactions, not asking prices.
          The eBay number is more honest.
          


          The BMI (Boot's Market Index) is a daily snapshot of the top card market,
          taken every night at 3 AM. The more days accumulated, the more meaningful
          the trends become.

Is this free?

              Free to use. Guests get 3 Boots questions per day. Creating an account unlocks portfolio tracking, a watchlist, and unlimited market access.
            

Who made this?

              One developer, one diabetic cat. Solo project. No VC funding. No flipper agenda. Just someone who wanted better tools for casual players.
            

Is my data safe?

              Your portfolio and watchlist live on our server. No data is sold or shared. You can delete your account and all data from the Config tab at any time.
            

Are prices accurate?

              Prices come from real eBay sold listings and TCGPlayer. They reflect the market at snapshot time. Card markets move — always verify before a big purchase.
            

Why is Boots sometimes wrong?

              Boots reads the market. It does not know your local shop's inventory, a card's specific condition, or a seller's reputation. Use it as a starting point, not the final word.
            

Is this financial advice?

              No. Pokemon cards are collectibles, not investments. Boots gives you market intelligence. What you do with it is your call.

① MORNING CHECK

Check SNAPSHOT DAYS — did the 3am snapshot run? Check PRICE.AUDIT — did any scores improve overnight from your query fixes?

② FIX QUERIES

Open PRICE.AUDIT. Work CRITICAL cards first. For each: ✏ FIX QUERY → test → exclude bad listings → set MIN PRICE if needed → SAVE → VERIFY.

③ WEEKLY REPORT

Run MANIPULATION REPORT once a week after you've verified a batch of queries. Cards still showing gaps after verification are real signals.

④ MILESTONE

June 24 — 30 days of data. HIGH confidence verdicts activate automatically. Manipulation report becomes publication-ready.

0–40 CRITICAL

Bad query, contaminated listings, wrong card entirely. Fix immediately.

41–60 WARNING

Low sample count or moderate spread. May improve as more data accumulates.

61–80 OK

Good data quality. Verdicts are usable. Continue monitoring.

81–100 CLEAN

High confidence data. Strong listings, no contamination, consistent prices.

              ⚑ Scores update after the 3am snapshot runs. Fixing a query tonight → new score tomorrow morning. VERIFIED badge overrides score display — use it on low-volume cards that score low due to thin eBay listings, not bad data.

SYSTEM HEALTH

Live status, snapshot history, and admin actions. REFRESH updates metrics. REBUILD PRICE INDEX after any major query batch. SYNC CARDS DB if a new set was just released.

COMMUNITY WATCH

Cards users are currently watching. Shows shared interest signals — if 5+ users watch the same card, that card's price data should be prioritized.

USER MONITORING

Active accounts, last seen, watchlist size. EJECT logs a user out immediately. Use if an account shows suspicious activity.

PRICE AUDIT

The main workspace. Run RUN AUDIT to score all cards. Use filters (CRITICAL/WARNING/OK/VERIFIED) to focus. Fix queries, delete ghost entries, verify clean cards.

USER REPORTS

Price issues reported by users. Review each one — if valid, fix the query. Mark resolved when done. Good signal for which cards need attention first.

FEEDBACK & BUGS

Bug reports and suggestions from users. Triage weekly — bugs first, suggestions to roadmap. Mark resolved to clear the queue.

MANIPULATION REPORT

Analyzes audit data for price manipulation patterns. Run weekly after fixing a batch of queries. Cards showing persistent eBay vs TCGPlayer gaps after verification are real signals — not data problems. Five patterns: TCG Suppression (eBay consistently above TCG), Wash Trading (fake extreme sales), Search Flooding (wrong cards in results), Pump Signal (price moving fast), Price Anchoring (high/low outliers distorting median).
